All federally funded research on how to prevent and treat strokes will be coordinated at the University of Cincinnati. UC officials announced in December it would be the national center for a network of 25 regional stroke centers set up by the National Institutes of Health. The national network comes with a $7.2 million in federal grants over the next three years, with about a dozen new researchers. It will also bring additional credibility to the UC Neuroscience Institute, already one of the few UC medical school centers with a viable national brand.
